Hi all,

I am doing HA a decent bit now and if more people want to join me here is the team build I want to run:

3 R/W RaO Hammer
1 N/E Hero Tainter
1 E/P SH Fire Ele
1 E/Rt UG Earth Ele
2 N/Rt healers

I have been running this for the last few nights with a good team and doing fairly well with it. Has a hard time vs hexway but other than that we have good chance of taking down any other team build we run into.

Build templates:

RaO's:

-1 RaO spirits: toxicity, edge of extinction, energizing wind

RaO's role in the team: Since there are 3 RaO's in the team 2 of them are dedicated to the other team's healers (either monks or n/rt's) and the 3rd one is for attacking another soft target (mesmer, support rit, or ele). It is important to stay on your target and after you have killed it watch for the dead monk to be rerezzed, then you need to switch back and kill your original target again. You need a mic and vent to play this role to call blindness on you or if you see someone rezz with a death pact signet so the team can smash that target. The RaO carrying edge of extinction doesn't put up that spirit until the team leader calls for it, which will happen if our health is higher than the opponet's and we are about to kill some of them to add in a death spike ftw.


Savannah Heat Ele:

-have a high health set and high energy set to switch to as well

SH ele role: You are AoE pressure, look for balls of the enemy groups to nuke and help the RaO's finish off their targets with Rodgorts if they call for it. In relic running maps it is your job to cast make haste on the runner.


Unsteady Ground Ele:

-have a high health set and high energy set to switch to as well

UG ele role: You are support damage and added knockdown for the RoA's and also you are defense. Put up the ward in the middle of the fight so our healers can run through it to lose melee attackers and keep weapon of warding on usually the healers to help them from taking melee damage if being pressured. Use stoning if a RaO calls for a spike on their target or just to add in additional damage.

N/Rt healers:
1 Offering of Spirit (OoS), 1 Order of Apostacy (OoA)

OoA:
Skills: OAhjYsHWITCPTOSTZMDTfNYgUbA

OoS:
Skills: OAhjYghsoOHXhn0cylxGmU7LG

The OoA n/rt only uses OoA when its called for by the team leader, this is done at a time when the RoA's are ready to kill targets and the OoA isn't taking damage because they will lose health as the RoA's take off monk enchantments so they can kill their targets and the other n/rt must be ready to heal the OoA from the lost health they take.

Its a fun and pretty simple build to run Smile

Ok we ran this build today and it worked well. we got some good fame. Let's play it more often and get good at it!

This is a pretty decent build for winning in UW and we should continue to run it until we gain some exp, teamwork and people start using their mics on vent. We will never be able to run a real build until we get people calling 3-2-1 spikes, hexes / conditions that need removal and tactics for relic runs and shrine cap maps on vent. This all takes time so no worries, I'm learning too and our brains won't turn completely to mush thumping and nuking hopefully.

Changes I'd consider are:

-Song of Concentration of the SH ele instead of Make Haste! since the thumpers have RaO to run relics. You need SoC for King of the Hill maps so the Ghostly Hero can complete his Claim Resource skill. It's also useful in other situations to get off key skills like spirits and nukes. It's important that the SoC is called on vent so everyone is aware it's going up and can make use of it. To use this on a caster you need to always be in a shield set flicking with a furious spear when you're not casting to power it up.

-Eruption on the UG ele instead of Stoning. Stoning is nice for spikes but Eruption is a must have on earth. During down time the earth ele can use Weapon of Warding with a 40/40 resto set to relieve pressure. We don't have Withering Aura or Enfeebling Blood in this build so the bonus effect from Stoning will never be fulfilled anyway.

-Bone Minions on the Tainted nec. It's cheesy but it gives the N/Rt healers better energy management to keep WoW's up, spam heal and use OoA more often. Well of Suffering is decent pressure, but 10dps isn't going to collapse a team that otherwise wouldn't collapse.

Other things to consider are dropping one thumper for a FC water mes or even that FC SH build with Deep Freeze you run in AB...once we get a little better. A good FC water mes can totally shut down front liners if they don't have good monks and is extremely valuable tactically. We could also consider running two Energizing Winds instead of EoE since we are not running this zergway style with 4 hard rezs.

Overall pretty fun stuff though and I look forward to more. It was kinda frustrating the last few times we HA'd because it's been a long time since I found myself (as a gamer) totally outclassed as the noob learner. A lot of people consider this build to be the noob lameway but who cares if we actually do get better and can some day run what passes as balanced in HA? Gota start somewhere.

Mascot lession #365: Relic Runs!

Ok lets talk about relic runs in the Hall of Heroes. This is the wiki run down of the goal:

Relic Run
Each team must carry the relic from their base to the central altar.
The relic runner must simply walk on the central altar with the relic to score a point.
The Ghostly Hero serves little purpose in the game type except to provide extra damage and interrupts.
Each relic your team brings to the central altar increases your team's score by 1.
The team with the most points at the end of the match wins. If two teams scores are tied, the team who most recently won a point wins the match.
Dead party members will be resurrected with full health and energy at their team's base every minute.
The usual strategy for this game type is playing passively. Let the runners do their job, and don't go out of your way to pester other teams. In most matches, the last 10 seconds is what really determines the victor.

Ok now lets talk tactics:
Observe this wonderful diagram that i have made (i know ur all impressed by my wonderful Paint Skills)

This picture only deals with one corridor, but please be aware that there are two more corridors for the other 2 teams that will be with us in HA. you can see from the wiki picture where they are.
Now, with the build we are running we have 3 RAOs. One has the hero so he wont be running but 2 is all we need. We all start off in our base in the circle bit, i forgot to put in the REZ POINT name there but that is where u will rez if u die.
RAO (2) on the list grabs the relic after the timer starts (i forget if u can grab it before the countdown)
RAO (3) on the list stays on the RELIC SPAWN POINT
RAO (2) runs down the corridor and into the Point Zone on the central shrine useing RAO for the speed boost. The point zone is in the middle of the central shrine but most times u get the point once u get on the stairs to the central shrine, but just to be safe keep running till you get the point and DONT DROP THE RELIC. when you are in the correct position the relic will be removed automatically. The other teams will try to slow you down and body block you. The best advice. if you see an ele watch out coz its going to snare you so try to avoid its AoE snares. Players will try to body block you so be aware and dont stand near walls. watch out for rubber band here too. if players tell you you are body blocked and you do not appear body blocked on ur screen then type /stuck so remove the rubber band. Team communincation is important. the healer will be near you and watching you so its good for them to call if u get body blocked.
During this time the healers stay with the RAO that is running the relic (normally they stay in the corridor section so they can manage both RAO) and heal them. Other players on the team pick ONE team and go and menace them by body blocking (forming a wall is good idea). A healer may wish to go with the body block team depending on how much pressure the RAOs are getting.
Once we gain a point the relic will spawn at the RELIC SPAWN POINT
RAO (2) Runs back to the RELIC SPAWN POINT being careful to stay out of RAO (3)s way.
RAO (3) picks up the RELIC and runs to the shrine the same manner as RAO (2) did.
As stated above healers tend to stay in teh corridor bit so that they can heal the relic runner and then quickly run over to the new relic runner once we get a point.
THE EARTH ELE (which is probly going to be me but if im not there...) your job is to SNARE the enemy. u have ur ward against foes. watch the runner and try to side step so ur directly infront of him. wait till hes just about to get in ur aggro bubble then cast your ward. Do it too late and he will only be in it for a short time. do it too early and he can avoid it (although he will have to run around it which will waste some time anyway). once he is snared RUN and body block, watch his movents and stay infront of him. dont cast spells coz you probly wont kill him since his team's healer will be healing him like crazy. just body block. Also the RAO can attempt to knock down the runner too if they want.
As time goes on the Body Blocking team may chose to switch targets to the other team. Same tactics apply. listen to the leader.

Ok, i think that is about all. If i have made any mistakes or you need more information just say and i'll fix it.
If people want i can try to do battle plans for the other two possible winning conditions for the HoH. (King of the Hill and Capture Points)

Seems like it could work well, everyone would have to be on vent to hear spike countdown and with a bit of practice this would be easy to use and very effective.
Just a thought for after the double faction weekend (dont use it during the weekend coz u need practice with spikes and u will get destroyed since all the good guilds are out this weekend). Practice in the PvP Isles at the master of damage might be helpful for spike practice.


What are peoples thoughts on this build? scratch



...another thought was a build that was like the old Dark Bomb build. I cant find it on wiki so i dunno if it got nerfed but basically everyone was E/A and had a shadow step skill. You picked the enemy with the same number as you then shadow stepped in and cast skills 2->8 (skill 1 was the shadow step) and it spiked the enemy to death and with everyone on the team doing this it was an instant win. The build did involve a knockdown skill too so that monks couldnt heal. I mite try and design another one if people are interested. The only problem was that if u all didnt spike at the same time the spike might not work or if the enemy somehow survived it took a while for the spike to recharge.
